It is unbelievable that someone can issue rape threats and get away with it, says Kabir Khan

Filmmaker Kabir Khan has come out in support of Delhi university student Gurmehar Kaur over the ongoing controversy regarding her stand against ABVP. The filmmaker has condemned the rape threats received by the girl and said that it angered him that people get away with such misconduct. The director is one of the many celebrities to publicly voice his opinion on the issue. Kabir was present at the launch of a theatre festival organised by Mukesh Chhabra’s company and spoke to the media. “The way we are supposed to conduct ourselves in the society has completely broken down over this social networking. It is unbelievable that someone can issue such threats to a 20-year-old girl and get away with it. It’s criminal. The only way to counter this is to throw those guys in the jail,” the director said.

Kabir is currently supervising the post production of his upcoming film ‘Tubelight’ which stars Salman Khan in lead role and features Chinese actress Zhu Zhu. The film’s story is largely under wraps but it is speculated to be based on the Indo-China war of 1962. The film will also feature Shah Rukh Khan in a guest appearance. Shatrughan Sinha, Sohail Khan and late actor Om Puri will also be seen in crucial roles. ‘Tubelight’ is one of the highly anticipated movies of the year and will release on Eid this year. This is Salman’s third collaboration with Kabir after successfully doing ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ in 2012 and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ in 2015.
